Meet the ASHP Brand Ambassadors

So are the ASHP brand ambassadors, five attendees who will be highlighting their experiences on social media before and during the conference. How many Midyears have you attended?

Emma: Three previously, with this year making four! I attended in 2016, 2017, and 2023.

Katie: One in 2023!

Do you have a favorite Midyear memory so far?

Emma: My favorite memory is the residency showcase from last year, my first year as RPD. It was wonderful to meet so many bright and ambitious pharmacy students and residents looking to further their knowledge and experience through residency. It was great to see the passion for ambulatory pharmacy in so many young pharmacists and to be able to speak to everything I learned through my residency experience. I am seeing more pharmacy students note that they do not need a residency because there are so many open positions right now. However, I am forever grateful for the knowledge, skills, experiences, and confidence I gained through my residency and try to relay to future pharmacists that it is not only about getting the job you want, but ensuring you have grown as a pharmacist to where you are confident and capable of taking that job to provide exceptional care for your patients.

Katie: My favorite Midyear memory was representing the St Elizabeth residency program during the residency showcase. It was so inspiring to interact with all of the potential residents from all over the country.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s conference?

Emma: This year, I am looking forward to building relationships with pharmacists across the nation and better understanding how we can improve the services we provide to our communities. I love hearing innovative ways that we can push pharmacy forward and expand access to care for our patients.

Katie: I am looking forward to so many things about Midyear, including the student posters, residency showcase, and exhibit program. I also am looking forward to the Anticoagulation Networking Session and can’t wait to be inspired by what pharmacists are doing throughout the country to provide excellent patient care.

How many Midyears have you attended?

The 2024 Midyear will be my tenth Midyear(!).

Do you have a favorite Midyear memory so far?

Due to recent loss within the ASHP community, a fond memory I have is meeting Sara White in person for the first time during the 2016 Midyear. We were able to discuss leadership and the profession, and I appreciated her wisdom throughout the conversation.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s conference?

I’m looking forward to connecting with many of my proteges, colleagues, and mentors across the profession.

How many Midyears have you attended?

I have attended two Midyears in-person (Las Vegas, Anaheim) and one virtually.

Do you have a favorite Midyear memory so far?

One of my favorite Midyear memories was rooming with one of my best friends, Nassim, in Las Vegas while we were both going through the residency and fellowship interview process. It was a stressful time, so it was comforting to have a familiar face and sounding board after interviews and receptions. Another favorite memory was visiting Disneyland for the first time last year with my Northeastern fellowship cohort. The Indiana Jones ride was incredible!

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s conference?

I'm looking forward to visiting New Orleans for the first time, reconnecting with my friends and professors from pharmacy school, and getting to spend time with our fellowship candidates at PPS and receptions!
