Supporting the complex needs of patients while navigating a constantly evolving healthcare landscape has become increasingly challenging. That’s why ASHP has strengthened our longstanding commitment to fostering the well-being of the pharmacy workforce by ensuring all pharmacy professionals have the resources, education, and support needed to thrive.
Last year was a busy one for well-being. ASHP launched We’re Your Pharmacist to enhance recognition and visibility of the crucial work our members do each day to improve patient care and keep patients healthy. These impactful member stories showcase the many ways pharmacists and pharmacy technicians contribute to patient care and validate your positions as essential members of the healthcare team. We co-hosted a summit, Implementing Solutions 2.0: Building a Sustainable, Healthy Pharmacy Workforce and Workplace, with the American Pharmacists Association and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, to gather valuable insights on barriers within the workplace and discuss actionable solutions. We unveiled a burnout calculator to help organizations understand the financial costs of occupational burnout and encourage meaningful investments in systemic change.
We continued to work closely with the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation to support and protect the well-being of healthcare workers. We partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to provide our members with education and tools related to suicide awareness, prevention, and response. Furthermore, our longstanding participation in the National Academy of Medicine Well-Being Action Collaborative ensures the pharmacy workforce is represented in ongoing efforts to support the mental well-being of healthcare workers.
