Dodd, Benner, Phelps Join Board of Directors

Linda S. Tyler, Pharm.D., FASHP, was installed on June 8 as ASHP President at the annual meeting of the ASHP House of Delegates.

Tyler is professor (clinical) of pharmacotherapy at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. She was previously chief pharmacy officer for University of Utah Health and associate dean for pharmacy practice at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Her ASHP service includes terms on the ASHP Board of Directors, chair of the Council on Pharmacy Management, and as director-at-large of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists. Tyler served as a Utah delegate in the ASHP House of Delegates, is a past president of the Utah Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and was the 2015 recipient of the John Webb Lecture Award.

Melanie A. Dodd, Pharm.D., Ph.C., BCPS, FASHP, was elected to a three-year term as chair of the ASHP House of Delegates. Dodd is associate dean for clinical affairs and associate professor, department of pharmacy practice and administrative sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Pharmacy. Her ASHP service includes terms as vice-chair and chair of the ASHP Council on Public Policy, chair of the ASHP Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners, and New Mexico delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates for 13 years. She is past-president of New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists and faculty advisor for the UNM Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Also taking office during the session were Kim W. Benner, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP, FPPA and Pamela K. Phelps, Pharm.D., FASHP, FMSHP, both of whom were installed as members of the ASHP Board of Directors.

Benner is professor of pharmacy practice at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and pediatric specialist at Children’s of Alabama. Her ASHP service includes terms as chair of the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists, Committee on Nominations, and Council on Therapeutics. She also served as an ASHP Clinical Skills Competition coordinator and judge and an Alabama delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates.

Phelps is system director of acute care clinical pharmacy services at M Health Fairview. Her ASHP service includes terms as chair of the Council on Therapeutics, Minnesota delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates, and a member of the ASHP Advisory Committee for the Pharmacy Forecast, ASHP Task Force on Accountable Care Organizations, and ASHP Council on Educational Affairs. She was also a chapter author for the Pharmacy Forecast and editor of the ASHP book, Smart Infusion Pumps.
