Today, ASHP is pleased to announce it has joined the National Infusion Collaborative™ (NIC) as it brings together pharmacy and safety leaders across the country to advance patient safety and the stewardship of intravenous medication use.
Formed in partnership with Bainbridge Health and Purdue University’s Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering in 2022, the NIC’s mission is to create an academic, research-driven forum for medication safety leaders to share best practices, learn from a nationwide network of professionals, and promote a zero-harm environment for patients receiving intravenous medications.
As a member organization of the NIC, ASHP will collaborate with Bainbridge Health, Purdue University’s Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering, and other member organizations on research, best practice sharing, and innovative approaches to improve infusion safety practices.
Members of the collaborative include inpatient pharmacy, quality, and safety leaders focused on infusion pump data analytics and safety practices.
The NIC is free to join and is expected to surpass more than 500 hospital members in 2024. ASHP, Bainbridge Health, and Purdue encourage anyone involved with the oversight of infusion pumps, including patient safety organizations and infusion pump manufacturers, to participate.
