Postgraduate Training Fellowship Focuses on Leadership and Management
ASHP has selected Shabnam “Shab” Azazil, PharmD, MS, as the 2026-2027 Executive Fellow in Association Leadership and Management. This prestigious yearlong fellowship provides immersive, hands-on training under the guidance of ASHP executives, staff, and volunteer leaders, preparing participants for impactful careers in association leadership and management.
Azazil is a system lead drug diversion pharmacist at Inova Health System in Northern Virginia and a recent graduate of Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, where she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and master’s degree in pharmacogenomics.
She brings over a decade of experience in pharmacy operations, compliance, and enterprise-wide initiatives. At Inova Health System, Azazil has contributed to strategic efforts that have strengthened medication safety, operational performance, and regulatory integrity across the system.

The ASHP Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management was established in 1968 (known as the ASHP Executive Residency until 2017) for those interested in careers in association management. Graduates of the program have gone on to lead in associations, government, for-profit corporations, academia, philanthropy, and beyond.
Housed at ASHP’s Joseph A. Oddis Global Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, the program equips pharmacists with expertise in executive leadership, strategic planning, member engagement, and business operations, providing real-world experience that fosters professional growth.
Azazil will begin her fellowship in July, taking on key projects and initiatives that will shape her leadership development and further ASHP’s mission.
