ASHP announced today that Mandy C. Leonard, PharmD, BCPS, will join the organization as vice president of the Office of Accreditation Services. Leonard will oversee all strategic and operational initiatives related to the accreditation of residency and technician training programs and serve as a member of the ASHP senior leadership team.
Leonard is currently the senior director of pharmacy clinical services, drug use policy, formulary management, and research for the Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to this role, Leonard held several progressively influential leadership positions within Cleveland Clinic, including senior director of drug use policy and formulary management and assistant director of drug information services and formulary management.
Throughout her career, Leonard has demonstrated expertise in enterprise formulary governance, drug use policy, high-cost and specialty medication management, and pharmacy clinical services integration. She has served as residency director for all Cleveland Clinic residency programs and as a residency program director for the postgraduate year 2 drug information residency. Leonard is the current chair of ASHP’s Next-Generation Therapeutics steering committee and serves as an ASHP residency contract lead surveyor.

The vice president of accreditation services is a critical member of ASHP’s senior leadership team and oversees accreditation processes for domestic and international pharmacy residency and technician training programs. In addition, this role coordinates the work of ASHP’s Commission on Credentialing and Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission, which develops and recommends standards for accreditation and administers the accreditation of pharmacy residency programs and pharmacy technician training programs.
Leonard obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, cum laude, and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and completed an ASHP-accredited residency in drug information practice at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist.
Leonard's ASHP service includes serving as a member and current chair of the Center for Next-Generation Therapeutics steering committee and as an ASHP residency practitioner surveyor and contract lead surveyor. She has been an active member of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists, where she has served on the Education Affairs Committee since 2013 and as director of educational affairs. She is a past president of the Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP) and has received numerous honors, including the OCCP Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2018, the ASHP Residency Excellence Award, and the Boris Greenberg Award for Clinical Pharmacy from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Leonard is also an assistant professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and a nationally recognized speaker and author, with publications in AJHP and other leading journals.
Leonard will begin her new role at ASHP on July 30, 2026.
