Amid changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), ASHP led partner organizations in requesting insurers and AHIP maintain existing coverage for vaccines without increases or changes to patient cost sharing.
This week, the nation’s largest insurers announced they will continue covering all vaccines that were recommended by ACIP as of Sept. 1, 2025, including updated formulations of the COVID-19 and influenza shots, with no cost-sharing for patients, through the end of 2026, according to AHIP, the national trade association for insurers. Kaiser Permanente had previously committed to maintaining coverage.
“We are grateful to insurers for committing to maintain patient access to vaccines without cost sharing,” said Tom Kraus, ASHP vice president of government relations. “ASHP will continue to advocate for this coverage for our patients.”
